  ASH: Archaic Sealed Heat is a tactical role-playing game developed by Mistwalker and Racjin and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo DS in Japan in 2007. ASH features pre-rendered videos and backgrounds. Actual gameplay is displayed on the bottom screen, while the top screen shows a full motion video depicting the battle.

In the kingdom of Millinear, the coronation of 17-year-old Princess Aisya is interrupted by a fearsome creature called the Fire Serpent. The beast destroys the castle and kills all of Millinear's citizens, but Aisya is spared. She discovers, that she can summon her lost friends and allies from piles of ash. Their bodies are made of ash, but their souls remain, giving them the power to assist Aisya in her quest to revive all of her kingdom's remaining inhabitants. Among them is her surrogate father and bodyguard Bullnequ, who holds a very close relationship with Aisya. As the story moves forth, characters like the warrior Dan, the psychic child Emu, the double agent Cootorolan and the mysterious Jeekawen appear.

Tales of the Tempest [NDS] (English Patched)

  Tales of the Tempest (Japanese: テイルズ オブ ザ テンペスト, Hepburn: Teiruzu Obu Za Tenpesuto) is an action role-playing game developed by Dimps and Namco Tales Studio, and published by Bandai Namco Games for the Nintendo DS exclusive in Japan. A spin-off "Escort" title of the Tales series, it was released on October 26, 2006. The game makes use of the Tales series' recurring Linear Motion Battle System, customized so characters and actions can be controlled and determined using the DS touch screen, as well as incorporating multiplayer elements. The opening of the game was made by Production I.G (2D animated parts only) and uses the music VS composed by Koda Misono.

The game follows Caius Qualls, a Leymon (race of werewolf-like shape-shifters who are persecuted for previous disastrous abuse of their advanced technology) who also have a human blood. With his guardian and parents taken prisoner by the church authorities, he sets out on a quest with other outcasts to save them and overthrow the church's oppressive regime. The game's characteristic genre name is Tamashii o yobisamasu RPG (魂を呼び覚ますRPG, RPG that Awakens the Soul).

Tempest was developed by Dimps, along with staff from Namco Tales Studio, including composer Motoi Sakuraba, designers Mutsumi Inomata and Daigo Okomura, and producer Makoto Yoshizumi. As the first title in the series to be developed for the DS, the concept behind it was to create a compact Tales experience for that platform. Yoshizumi moved to delay the game twice before its release so as to refine the experience. Upon release, the game polarized Japanese and western critics, with Famitsu Weekly giving it a notably harsh review. While some have praised the game's story and gameplay, others have faulted these and other aspects such as its technical quality and short length. Originally described by Japanese media as a main title, it was later classified and described by staff as a spin-off.

Tales of Innocence [NDS] (English Patched)

  Tales of Innocence (Japanese: テイルズオブイノセンス, Hepburn: Teiruzu Obu Inosensu) is an action role-playing video game, developed and released for the Nintendo DS and PlayStation Vita. Innocence is the ninth main installment in the Tales series, developed by Alfa System and published by Bandai Namco Games. It was released in December 2007. A remake for the Vita developed by 7th Chord, Tales of Innocence R (テイルズオブイノセンス アール, Teiruzu Obu Inosensu Āru), was released in January 2012. Multiple elements are carried over from previous entries in the series, including the action-based Linear Motion Battle System. Innocence R includes both an updated battle system and additional story content. Both versions remain exclusive to Asia.

Both Innocence and Innocence R focus on Luca, a merchant's son who encounters a fugitive named Illia. In rescuing her, he discovers he has inherited supernatural powers from his past life. He teams up with Illia and multiple others who have gained similar powers from past lives. The group become involved in the wars consuming the world, along with events pertaining to their past lives and the future of their world.

Innocence began production in 2006 at Alfa System as the next main entry in the Tales series. Developed parallel to the DS spin-off title Tales of the Tempest, the goal was to include all the series' main gameplay and narrative elements despite the limited medium. The character designs were done by Mutsumi Inomata, while the music was composed by series newcomer Kazuhiro Nakamura. Extensive voice acting was included using CRI Middleware's Kyuseishu Sound Streamer compression algorithm. After release, it was decided to remake Innocence for the Vita, using platform-specific gameplay functions, redone voice work and music, and new characters. Japanese singer-songwriter Kokia created the opening theme songs for both versions of Innocence. Both versions have been positively received in Japan, and Western opinions on the two versions of Innocence have been mostly positive.

Super Robot Taisen: Mugen no Frontier EXCEED [NDS] (English Patched)

  ''Endless Frontier EXCEED: Super Robot Wars OG Saga''' (無限のフロンティアEXCEED スーパーロボット大戦OGサーガ Mugen no Furontia EXCEED Sūpā Robotto Taisen OG Sāga) is the sequel to Endless Frontier: Super Robot Wars OG Saga for the Nintendo DS, released in Japan on February 25. 2010. The cast from the original game returns in the sequel along with two new original characters to the series, Aledy Nashe and Neige Hausen. It also features Axel Almer and Einst Alfimi of Super Robot Wars A and Impact as playable characters, and Fighter Roar from SD The Great Battle and M.O.M.O. from the Xenosaga series as support characters.

Nanashi no Game Me (NDS) [English Patched]

  Nanashi no Game: Me (ナナシ ノ ゲエム 目, Nanashi no Geemu Me, lit. "Nameless Game: Eye"), a survival horror video game for the Nintendo DS. It was published by Square Enix, and released on August 27, 2009 in Japan. The story follows an anthropology student from Nanto University, as he discovers two cursed games, an RPG and a platformer. The game's title refers to the protagonist's left eye, represented by the left screen of the DS when held sideways, which allows the player to see things left (and hidden) by the curse. It sold 15,000 copies on the week of its release.

Much like in the original, Nanashi no Game: Me involves two separate modes of play. Most of the game takes place in the real world, where the player navigates real-time 3D environments using the DS's D-Pad and Touch Screen. While exploring, the player must solve puzzles and reach locations. The player can switch to the TS Menu at any time, where they can play the cursed game, read e-mail messages, and load a previous save file. In many cases, an e-mail message or update to the cursed game will interrupt the player's exploration. In the cursed game, which only uses the top DS screen, the player controls a 2D 8-bit RPG that provides clues to the current situations and can, in some cases, advance the story. In Nanashi no Game: Me, the player can now choose the locations they want to explore out of the two available for each day (for three days only). Each destination provides different experiences, including the Regrets the player will encounter.

  Nanashi no Game (ナナシ ノ ゲエム, Nanashi no Geemu, lit. "Nameless Game" or "The Game with No Name") is a first-person survival horror video game developed by Epics and published by Square Enix for the Nintendo DS. The game follows a university student who becomes cursed by the titular role-playing game, which causes people to die in seven days upon starting. It was released on July 3, 2008 in Japan. A sequel, titled Nanashi no Game: Me, was later released on August 27, 2009 in Japan, followed by another sequel in 2012.

Blood of Bahamut [NDS] (English Patched)

   Blood of Bahamut (ブラッド オブ バハムート, Buraddo obu Bahamūto) is an action role-playing video game developed by Think & Feel and published by Square Enix. It was released for the Nintendo DS in Japan on August 6, 2009. 

Blood of Bahamut is an action role-playing game in which up to four players battle giant beasts that are featured on both screens of the DS. In order to defeat a giant, players must first destroy its protective armor, then attack its "core," and finally attack its other body parts. The giants can summon smaller beasts, which the players must battle simultaneously. Defeating a giant's body parts and the smaller beasts will grant players "materials" which can be used to produce powerful weapons. The game will contain over 130 missions.

Ni no Kuni: Shikkoku no Madoushi (Dominion of the Dark Djinn) [English Patched + Wizard's Companion]

 

Ni no Kuni: Dominion of the Dark Djinn is a role-playing video game developed and published by Level-5. It was released in Japan for the Nintendo DS on December 9, 2010. Players control Oliver, a young boy who sets out on a journey to save his mother. The game is played from a third-person perspective and its world is navigated on foot or by boat. While players navigate Oliver throughout the game's world, other characters can be controlled during battles against enemies; during these battles, players use magic abilities and creatures known as "imajinn", which can be captured and tamed.

Development of Dominion of the Dark Djinn began in 2008. The game's animated sequences were produced by Studio Ghibli, while the original score was co-composed by Joe Hisaishi. The artwork was also inspired by Studio Ghibli's other productions. The character development of Oliver was a large focus of the game, intending to make children empathize with the character and for adults to relive their adolescence. The developers chose to develop for the Nintendo DS due to its suitability for gameplay.

Following its announcement, Ni no Kuni was widely anticipated. It was acclaimed by reviewers, with praise particularly directed at its story, art style and music. An enhanced version of the game, titled Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, was released in November 2011 for the PlayStation 3, featuring similar gameplay and story elements.
